Santa Fe Residence – Houston, TX. This small home was designed for a private client who runs a photography studio, and wanted a home with unique spatial experiences. The conceptual diagram for the home is a square space protected by a large stone plane. This massive plane swoops across the front elevation and creates the backdrop for a beautiful courtyard on the inside where you discover a photography studio and guest house have been pulled away as a separate structure. A sky bridge connects the guest house and main house, providing a balcony to look down onto the deck and courtyard. This house is about introspection, simplicity, and offers a variety of spatial moments. Only two exterior materials make up the envelope, and will ultimately contrast a bold eclectic interior.
